Dr Danie van Aswegen


Danie and his wife, Emsie moved to Somerset West in 2016 to join the practice of the late Dr Daan Prinsloo.

After completing his MBChB degree at the University of Pretoria in 1983, he worked as a GP in Zeerust for 26 years, also performing duties as district surgeon and medical officer at Zeerust Hospital.

He completed his Diploma in Occupational Health and Medicine in 2000 and acted as part-time occupational medical practitioner for several mines and industries.

Danie enjoys the different aspects of a general practice and has a special interest in geriatry and occupational health.

He is a keen birdwatcher, enjoys hiking and travelling to different parts of Southern Africa and to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Dr Trusia Burgers


Trusia joined the practice in 2015 when she returned to South Africa after 10 years in the UK.

Her special interests are chronic pain management, preventative health and musculoskeletal medicine. She also enjoys helping people who is going through cancer, especially breast cancer, having gone through this journey herself. 

She qualified in 1993 and after working in Pretoria for 5 years, she relocated to the UK. There she worked in London doing corporative medicine and preventative health. She also did extra courses in musculoskeletal medicine while there.

Trusia enjoys spending time with her husband Bharn and children, Mieke and Herman. She loves Latin dancing, gardening and walking her dogs.

Estelle McDonald


Estelle has been with the practice since 2023.

She is our friendly Receptionist and your first line of contact with our practice.

She is from Heidelberg and worked previously in an Ophthalmology practice.

Debbie Steyn


Debbie joined the practice in January 2024

She is from a small town in Namaqualand where she worked for a GP practice for 15 years.

Debbie is responsible for accounts and medical aid enquiries as well as our WCA and Occupational Medical examinations.

We welcome Debbie to the practice and in her own words “ I am happy to have found a similar practice where patients are treated with compassion and care”
